Kallon McVicar wins AIG Illawarra Apprentice of the Year!

Mainteck 4th year apprentice, Kallon McVicar, was awarded Australian Industry Group's Illawarra 2014 Apprentice of the Year.

On hand at this years event, held on Friday the 21st of November at Wollongong's Villa D'oro, were Kallon's Mum Wendy, his Dad Shane and Kallon's girlfriend Emma.

On behalf of Mainteck, we congratulate Kallon on this fantastic honour, and hope that he continues to develop and expand his skills and experience.

Several Mainteck employees also attended the event to support Kallon, including General Manager Tim Moss and Kallon's training mentor Paul Lomas.

Mainteck apprentice wins Gold!

Kallon McVicar, a Boilermaking apprentice at Mainteck, has won a gold medal at the recent World Skills competition held in Perth.

His hard work and eye for detail enabled him to beat out the competition, securing his place at the world championships to be held next year in Brazil.

Mainteck sponsors VTC Training Awards

Six winners from the VTC Training awards impressed the two major sponsors (of which Mainteck was one) so much that they decided to further reward them all with additional monetary prize cheques with the hope it would encourage other local employers and sponsors to increase their support of the annual event.

Apprentice wins Gold at Regional Worldskills

Mainteck Boilermaking Apprentice Kallon McVicar won Gold at the Worldskills Illawarra Regional competition recently.  He will now be travelling to the Australian National Worldskills Competition to be held in Perth in Sept 2014.

Capability Video updated

Our capability video has been updated, and now shows some of the major projects both completed and currently underway.

From the transport from the ship and lifting into place of modules weighing up to 200T at Cement Australia site at Port Kembla, overland conveyor assembly and installation at Grosvenor coal mine site at Moranbah in Queensland, dismantling and demolishing plant in Western Australia to complicated and precise lifting of platforms at BSL's Metal Coating Line in Port Kembla, this video showcases Mainteck's skill, attention to detail and ability to get the hard jobs done safely.

Mainteck safety performance features in Anglo American Newsletter

The great, safe work being completed by Mainteck on the Grosvenor Structural Mechanical Piping (SMP) Project, in Moranbah Queensland, has been recognised in the most recent AngloAmerican Newsletter. A huge wrap, and testament to the safety effort put in by all involved in order to make this a successful project for Anglo and Mainteck, whilst also allowing all those who work hard on the project to return safely to their families after work. Check out page 3, and see what Anglo Site Manager Greg O'Donnel has to say about the committment shown by all.
